Review from sharb for OnlineBookClub.org

The title of this book is very fitting in many ways. From the beginning of the book, where Darwin meets an unexpected stranger on the airplane who reappears in his life in the book-Darwin is faced with many obstacles. His new guardian gives him what seems like very tough love, but as the story progresses you see the guardians actions towards other people in his life are very similar. It almost seems as if the guardian is so self absorbed he does not care about anyone but himself, but we see a caring side of him late in the story at a breaking point. Darwin’s unexpected mentor takes a great interest in Darwin and treats Darwin as his own son. This mentee mentor relationship opens many doors for Darwin. Darwin’s tragic family loss followed by his deceitful cousin as his new guardian and controller of his money, left Darwin almost unable to experience the great education and life his parents would have wanted.
